Anna Marie Dvorak (formerly Anna D. Thompson) age 60 of Cross City/Lake City, Florida, joined our Lord March 27, 2008 after a lengthily illness. Anna was a retired Registered Nurse and leaves behind three children, CharLee Lanier of Panama City, Lori (Greg) McDonald of Lake City, Scott Thompson of Panama City,

MRS VIRGINIA ANNE ENGERS of Cross City passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008 after a long illness. She was 67. Mrs. Engers taught math with the Dixie County School system for 27 years. She then became Vocational Director and later became Director of Human Resources for the School System. She retired in 2007 after 36 years of service.
Ashley has been located by her family. Ashley Noegel is 19 years old, has grey eyes and brown hair. Old Town acquaintances claim she has not been in contact for over a month. She was last seen by her mother in Old Town, Florida on December 26th.For any information, please contact Monday Hunter at 904-866-2561.

Dixie County now has the facilities to recycle newspaper, business paper, magazines and cardboard. There are two recycle dumpster locations, one behind the Texaco gas station opposite the high school in Cross City and the other behind Double D Auto Sales in Old Town. Use of these facilities, by residents of Dixie County, is encouraged, aside from the ‘usual’ reasons for recycling, it will also save the County the expense of moving the waste to a landfill.

On Saturday, March 15, 2008 Edward Brown, 14, of Old Town was killed in a traffic accident on state road 26. Herbert Brown, Edward’s father, was driving eastward on state road 26 when he traveled into the westbound lane to go around a vehicle which had stopped in the eastbound lane to execute a left turn.
