MRS. MELBA LEE UNDERHILL of Cross City passed away at North Florida Regional Medical Center Wednesday, April 23, 2008 after a long illness.  She was 85 years of age, born September 11, 1922 in Taylor County, Florida.  She moved to Dixie county with her parents where she was raised.  Melba served as the Dixie County Supervisor of Elections from January 1961 until she retired in 1981.  She was a member of the Baptist Purity Church.

MR. JOUQUIM GOMES, JR. of Horseshoe Beach, FL passed away on April 21, 2008 at the Gainesville VA. He was 75. Born in Key West, FL, Mr. Gomes lived in Horseshsoe for the past 35 years where he was a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Horseshoe.
